I discussed my other cheaper quotes with them but they convinced me that they use a lot better quality, experienced trades, etc. In the end, i found it was all dishonest marketing and the materials and qualities they used were exactly the same as many others. I confess that i made the biggest mistake in my life resulting in around a $25k loss. We are looking to build with Distinctive homes in the near future. Two of my friends have had good experiences with them. They seem to be honest and have quoted a very good amount for their top specification.
Completely agree with you – terrible company and experience mainly driven by Charles arrogance & lack of care for his customers. In our experience, the customer came second. Would NEVER recommend building with Charles Savage constructions to anyone!!

The workmanship and quality of the build was very good. K that has been completed that I will definitely be using Ralph to help renovate the rest of the old part of our house which is in much needed attention. Just a bit gun shy as they are a bit higher and dont want to get caught at selections also. The salesmen is telling us there range is one of the best but just didnt know if that is sales talk.... Also the SS went out of his way to inform us that the wrong lintels had been sent, and the brickies would be 'not quite finished' when our independent inspector went through. We've been deliriously happy with F0rm@t – our site supervisor came and moved an interior window for us, his very own self, due to OUR mistake in not noticing it hadn't been moved per our request. The approval stage took forever and the build was very long.
All stages of the build were extremely well managed. The company was very accommodating, understanding and honest. They fenced it all off, unlike the other builders, and have been sooo neat and tidy, unlike all the others.. They've tidied everything at the end of each day, done a basic sweep out once a week. And importantly did not encroach on anyone's neighbouring land.
The only way you will get a true low-carbon / eco home is to engage a specialist designer who will look at the land, sun angles, aspects, natural ventilation etc. Yes – this will cost more than a project home. Any pros and cons to the above builders or some further recommendations would be fantastic. The build was more personalised than some of the volume builders I've used in the past.

I have to say some of the trade professionals are very respectful and communicative and some believe are in the war zone. We thought we a very smooth planning to construction process with no major delays or hiccups.... Four years on and we are still chasing Rivergum to fix multiple leaks on our upper floor and window sills that reoccur every winter and now a roof that is aleady showing signs of rust. Poor quality, take no responsibility or genuinely try to fix things, it's not worth the stress, do not build with them.
My family, friends and contacts and I would NOT go with Rivergum again. If you have a decent budget, ignore the display homes and start finding bespoke builders – where it's the owner doing a lot of work or at least managing your job and using a small number of trades. Darren was extremely considerate where cost were concerned, I had a budget and he did his best to stay within my price range. The overall project is better than I expected. The project was finished in a timely manner and handover was a smooth process.
We made a couple of changes during the build which was no problem to do. I would not to hesitate to recommend the team at integrity for all your building needs in Robe. Dean and Felicity built our custom coastal home.
They are a cheaper builder, so their finishing isn't as good as some of the other builders but really can't complain. Just bringing up an old post of yours which mentioned you were building your home with Format . Given a few years have passed how was your overall experience with them and the whole process?
My building inpector is VERY happy bcuz he never has to nit-pick them. The door handles were all installed higher than I specified, so they immediately took them all off and re-installed. Few hiccups, and you have to ring them for updates, and go look yourself, but that's any builder.
